   This website has historical information on Scotland's counties and parishes taken from the Statistical Accounts of Scotland which were published in the 1790s and 1845. Subscriptions are available but some information can be accessed free of charge.

2. Scottish Way of Birth and Death

   This project from the University of Glasgow has information on civil registration in Scotland 1855-1939. It explains how the statistics were collected, gives biographies of some of the officials involved and looks at the social history of this period. As well as birth, marriage and death, headings include census, health and disease, war and national registration etc.
