British and Irish Furniture Makers Online (BIFMO) is a searchable and freely accessible online database, comprising the Dictionary of English Furniture Makers, 1660-1840, and London Joiners’ Company apprenticeship bindings and freedom admissions, 1640-1720. A collaboration between the Furniture History Society (FHS) and the Institute of Historical Research (IHR), the first phase of this project has developed the database thanks to generous funding from the Furniture History Society and its membership.   14. Official 'assisted passage' passenger lists 1845 - 1886
    Record emigrants selected by the Colonization Commissioners, London, whose passages were paid for out of the Emigration Fund. The lists typically give passengers' names, and most give ages, occupation and marital status, while some give county of origin. Not all lists have survived.
    The lists are grouped into years and then arranged numerically within each year. An alphabetical name index to these records is available - see: Index to Official Passenger Lists.

  18. The Company of Watermen and Lightermen. This Guild is over 500 years old. The website gives a short history of the Guild. The information recorded by the Company is the apprentice’s name, date bound (as an apprentice to the Company), place, master’s name and the date if/when he gained his Freedom of the Company.

The area is divided into 14 separate but interconnected language regions that are used as grouping categories for the Nyungar language names identified in this project. It contains material relating to the United Kingdom and Ireland and all Australian states and New Zealand with a small amount of content for the Pacific Islands and Papua New Guinea. The Australian states with the largest amount of material are Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. Content includes passenger lists, almanacs, Blue Books, electoral rolls, government gazettes, police gazettes and post office directories. The Ireland section includes will indexes, directories, cemetery transcriptions, land records and more. The largest collection is Irish prison records which includes information on over 3.5 million people. Most coverage for the United Kingdom is for England and Wales, including 1841-1911 census records. Census transcriptions for Scotland for 1841 through to 1901 are also available. Top content includes births, marriages and deaths including overseas BMDs, armed forces BMDs and BMDs at sea; UK outgoing passenger lists 1890-1960 and British Army service records (also known as Chelsea Pensioner records) 1760-1913.

The British convict transportation registers 1787-1867 database has been compiled from the British Home Office (HO) records which are available in the State Library as part of the Australian Joint Copying Project (AJCP) microfilm collection. You can find details for over 123,000 of the estimated 160,000 convicts transported to Australia in the 18th and 19th centuries.

  77. The Chinese Maritime Customs Service (until 1912: the Imperial Maritime Customs Service)

    The Chinese Maritime Customs Service was an international, although predominantly British-staffed bureaucracy (at senior levels) under the control of successive Chinese central governments from its founding in 1854, until 1950 when the last foreign Inspector-General resigned.
    The project has prepared a database of the career details for all staff listed in the annually-published Service List. (See also the details of 125 careers which published by the Customs in the late 1930s).
