  1. The Irish in Europe Project, founded in NUI Maynooth in 1997, promotes scholarly research on Irish migration to continental Europe in the early modern period. It currently hosts biographical information on about 40,000 Irish migrants, mainly soldiers but also men who had to leave Ireland in order to study for the priesthood.
